A Prayer for a New School Year

Dear Lord, the God All-Knowing,
You have created me to know you and make you known. May you reveal yourself to me through whatever I will learn this year, whether it be at school or church or just daily life. Use my knowledge to glorify you and grow closer to you, for you have created all things, and whenever I have an opportunity to learn something new, help me to recognize that it is also an opportunity to learn about you.
Give me diligence to develop good habits and to complete whatever task is at hand, working heartily as unto the Lord and not for man (Colossians 3:23).
Help me persevere through the long and potentially difficult year ahead of me, to run with endurance the race that is set before me (Hebrews 12:1).
Remind me to have a good attitude, knowing that whatever schoolwork I am doing is for my benefit, whether I recognize it or not. The ability to learn is a blessing from you; help me to never take that for granted.
And Lord, I am imperfect. I will make mistakes and fail to be diligent, persevere, and have a good attitude. Help me to give myself grace for this, as you forgive my mistakes. Help me to be patient with myself, as you yourself are patient with me.
And finally, God, give me a heart that wants to know you, far more than any other knowledge on this earth. And give me wisdom, that I may discern truth in what I am taught.
In your name I pray, amen.
