Hi readers!
Everyone has to worship something; man was created this way. The question of what to worship has never been and should not be relative to the desires of each individual, though it seems it has become so in this post-modern, feeling-driven society.
The Value of a Christian Worldview in a World that Devalues Christ is a new blog series based on an essay I wrote back in March for a scholarship opportunity. This essay and this series answers the question of the importance of a Christian worldview in academic study.
A worldview is the perspective a person has on the world based on his ideas about the nature of reality. A Christian worldview, specifically, is a Biblical, eternal perspective of the nature of reality and the world, based on the existence of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is an outlook on the world from a Biblical standpoint, whereas a non-Christian worldview will be anything but that. A Christian worldview is the only right view of Reality, and though everything else exists in that Reality, those who do not have a Christian worldview choose not to see it.
A person with a Christian worldview and a person with a non-Christian worldview will have entirely different outlooks on the world, and therefore consider their education based upon those individual viewpoints. Those who hold to a Christian worldview understand that education has an eternal purpose and that purpose is to learn about God, thus glorifying Him. Those with a Christian worldview study intentionally, connecting their education to God, because they know that everything was created and is sustained by Him.
A Christian worldview gives students a reason to care about their education because of the intrinsic value of purposefully learning about God and the world He created. Christians view truth as reality, and believe objective Truth exists and can be found as God revealed it to man through His Word and His very existence. This series will discuss how a Christian worldview shapes a student’s thoughts, a student’s loves, and a student’s life, in regards to academic study.
Stay tuned for part 1, coming next week!
